Allergen Awareness

The new Allergen Awareness is run as a 3-hour course.

Legislation places responsibilities on the food chain when labelling and identifying ingredients in food. This course is tailored towards any business in the food chain from manufacturing to storage, distribution and the catering service industry as well as schools.

A highly interactive course in which candidates are invited to participate in the identification of various foods within different scenarios.

Course covers Pre-packaged for Direct Sale requirements came into law during October 2021.

Target Audience

Any level of personnel within the food sector including growers, manufacturers, wholesalers, hotels and catering, schools, hospitals and similar.

Course Aims

To provide the basic level of knowledge required to keep foods considered as allergens separate from any other foods throughout the food chain.

To provide information on legislative requirements.

  • Know which foods can cause allergic reactions in some people
  • Know how to prevent allergen contamination in the workplace
  • Know the impacts food allergens can have on the consumer
  • Know where to find information if required

Assessments

Various assessments in the form of exercises during the course.

End of course test paper.

Certification

Certificate of attendance will be issued to candidates who participate successfully and pass the end of course test paper.
